Mojibake is readable characters turning into nonsense—often because UTF-8 bytes were shown as Windows-1252, Latin-1, or another legacy encoding, or the file was decoded twice.

Which languages does this cover?

We focus on Latin scripts (English, German, French, Polish, Turkish, and similar) and Cyrillic. Other scripts may not repair reliably.

Paste versus upload—what costs credits?

Short paste jobs up to about 48k characters are free. Longer pasted text or multi-file uploads use credits so heavy use stays fair; the exact cost is calculated on the server when you submit.

Can I fix Word documents or PDFs here?

This tool expects plain text or simple text exports. Binary office files, PDFs, and executables are rejected—export to .txt or copy the text out first.
